ST. LOUIS COUNTY — Health officials in St. Louis County on Tuesday received 6,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 3,000 that had been delayed due to last week’s snow.

Health department spokesman Christopher Ave said the doses will be used at existing vaccination sites as early as Wednesday, and officials “will aggressively schedule people in the coming days.”

Last week’s snow and bitter weather caused delays in both vaccinations and the delivery of the vaccine, including at least partial delays of 186,000 doses that Missouri officials ordered from Feb. 10 to Feb. 16.

A mass vaccination event that had been scheduled for Lincoln County last Friday was held Tuesday, instead, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Also Tuesday, the state updated the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic, adding 33 deaths in 2020, 99 in January and 43 in February.

A total of 7,885 people have died due to COVID-19 in the state and 475,791 cases have been reported.

Missouri reported that 708,751 people have received a first dose of vaccine, or 11.5% of the population, and 337,824 have received a second dose.

Illinois, meanwhile, reported a total of 22,528 deaths and 1,177,320 cases.

At least 2,254,982 doses of vaccine had been administered in Illinois as of Monday, with 590,854 people fully vaccinated, or 4.6% of the state.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force said the seven-day moving average of hospital admissions remained the same at 43 and the moving average for hospitalizations decreased by three to 310.
