A solarium runs across the front exterior of the Bowerses’ house. Before the renovations, sunlight that hit the solarium’s wall of windows was the only source of heat for the house.

In the solarium, Linda Bowers grows orchids, small trees and night blooming cereus flowers. Three of the house’s bedrooms open up to the solarium on the second floor.
