These pets are available for adoption from the Humane Society of Missouri.

Pet of the Week: Bernie

Bernie is a 2-year-old boxer who came to the shelter in mid-February. Bernie is a foster-to-adopt dog who is currently being treated for heartworms. Because the treatment can take a few months, Bernie is able to continue his treatment in a forever home, rather than stay in the shelter. Once his treatment is over, you can finalize the adoption, making him a permanent member of your family. HSMO will provide all the food, medication and veterinary care during the foster period.

Last week's pet, still available: Vivian

Meet Vivian, a 25-year-old female quarter horse who is friendly and kind. She came to the ranch a few years ago severely emaciated and suffering from parasites. While at the ranch, she gained over 200 pounds, has been treated for her parasites, feet trimmed, teeth floated and adopted out. She was recently returned at no fault of her own and is ready for her new forever home. Vivian has previous training under saddle and was a solid walk/trot mare at one point in time. Due to some age-appropriate arthritis, the vet does not recommend her for any athletic activities.

He is a polite and friendly fellow who loves home life and is being potty trained. He would love a family to continue his training and lavish him with lots of attention.

Last week's pet, still available: Four

This sweet boy is Four, a 3-year-old Douge de Bordeaux mix who came to the Humane Society of Missouri in mid-January after his owner was made homeless and was no longer able to provide for him. Four is super friendly, well-behaved, loves children and is housebroken. He’s a down-on-his-luck pup who deserves a loving home.

Last week's pet, still available: Miss Fark

Meet Miss Fark, a 16-year-old unaltered female, bay thoroughbred who came to Longmeadow in late 2018 after being lightly raced for several years. She is a nicely built mare with an eye-catching blaze. Miss Fark was diagnosed with mild kissing spine. After extensive rehabilitation, trainers have found that she struggles with back pain when in consistent work. At this point in time, we are looking to adopt Miss Fark out as a pasture pet. She gets along well with both mares and geldings but does tend to be a more dominant personality in the pasture.
