Seven of the most endangered places and buildings in Missouri are in the St. Louis area, and preservationists want your help in saving them.

The Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation held its “Unhappy Hour” Friday at the HyVee Arena in Kansas City, which is a former Place in Peril and a recipient of Missouri Preservation Honor Award this year.

Chicago architect Helmut Jahn designed the arena, which was known as the Kemper Arena and was considered a revolutionary design of its time. It opened in 1974 and a recent $39 million renovation turned it into a multi-level sports facility and event space.

At the arena, the alliance announced this year’s Places in Peril.

All information is from the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation, and contact information for the sale of some buildings is listed on its website.
