'Doonesbury' strips held from Post-Dispatch

  • 0

This week’s “Doonesbury” comic strips address the Texas law that requires women to have an ultrasound before getting an abortion. Due to the sensitive nature of the content, we are not publishing the strips in the paper. Replacement strips are running today through Saturday in the Everyday section.

The Post-Dispatch rarely edits or removes comics from the paper. After much consideration, we decided the current “Doonesbury” storyline, which features a woman visiting an abortion clinic, includes graphic language and imagery unsuitable for a section that is popular with young readers. A number of other papers across the country also opted out of running the strips.

Readers who want to see the original strips can find them online at stltoday.com/comics.
