Made it, Ma, top of the world.

The rocketry club from Festus High School has won the world championship in the International Rocketry Challenge in Paris.

Members of the team are Grace Basler, Ed Bohnert, Cydney Breier, Ryan Brown, Christopher Carden, Ashton Croft, Joel Marler, Rylie Martin, Jacob Rozner and club president Timothy Ruesche. The coach is band teacher Devin Lorenz, a former member of the rockets club in the 2000s.

The teams were required to launch a raw egg to an altitude of 800 feet and return it to earth, unbroken, for a duration of 42 to 44 seconds.

The competition, which finished earlier today, featured the best teams from France, Great Britain and Japan. In May, the squad bested 100 other teams from across the U.S. to win the national Team America Rocketry Challenge and qualify for the Paris meet.
