Sure they missed a couple of opening dates, like Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

But the Missouri Bar & Grille still will re-open on a memorable date: April Fool's Day.

That's right, the storied, late-night bar at 701 Tucker Boulevard in downtown St. Louis will on Friday have an official opening celebration.

"We didn't plan it that way," said Jim Panapoulos, who weathered some delays on reopening the bar he owns with his brother, Louis Panapoulos.

"But then the more we thought about it, we thought, 'What the hell?'"

The new owners are the brothers of former owner/bon vivant Trifon Panapoulos, who died in September 2013. The bar remained open until February 2015, but closed because of a dispute between the Panapoulos family and Zeta Zavradinos, Trifon Panapoulos' daughter.

"MoBar" has been mostly gutted and renovated. The old back bar on the north wall remains, but most all of the remaining interior has been repaired or replaced.

Panapoulos said a soft opening will start at 3 p.m. Tuesday and will extend until Friday.
