Local lawyer Tim Noelker will ankle his position as senior counsel at Thompson Coburn to become general counsel of the Corporation for National & Community Service.
Noelker will serve as the contact person with the White House for the $1 billion agency that oversees AmeriCorps, VISTA and other volunteer service programs. He starts on July 5.
Noelker has a long history of community service, having held leadership positions with Catholic Charities USA, Child Welfare League of America and the Council on Accreditation, which regulates international adoption agencies for the U.S. State Department.
Noelker, who plans to remain in St. Louis and commute to Washington, is the husband of Villa Duchesne High School science department chairman Didi Noelker.
"We know Tim will provide this service to our country with the same passion, care and skill that he provided to so many Thompson Coburn clients over his 30 years with us," firm chairman Tom Minogue said in a statement.
