ST. JACOB • An Arizona man in a classic car was killed in a head-on crash on Illinois Route 4 Thursday morning.
Investigators with the Illinois State Police are investigating the four-vehicle crash that happened at Ellis Road, south of U.S. 40, about 7:30 a.m.
Authorities identified the deceased man as Pasqual L. Rodolpho, 57, of Waddell, Ariz. Rodolpho was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Illinois State Police trooper Calvin Dye Jr. No one else was injured.
Rodolpho was northbound in a 1949 Plymouth sedan when a 2002 Ford pick-up truck pulling a boat in the southbound lanes encountered slowed traffic. The pickup struck the rear of a southbound 2004 Honda, then crossed into the northbound lanes, where it hit Rodolpho's Plymouth head-on.
A northbound tanker truck then hit the Ford.
Route 4 was closed for about six hours as authorities investigated and cleaned up the scene.
The other drivers involved were Ryan J. Krider, 23, of Chillicothe, Ill., who was in the Ford pickup; Neil E. Vollmar, 46, of Edwardsville, in the Honda; and Allan S. Gieseking, 48, of Highland, in the tanker truck.
