BELLEVILLEĀ ā€¢ A man was sentenced Thursday to 60 years in prison for his role in the death of a woman at a Fairmont City motel, St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly's office announced this afternoon.

Santoin D. Russell, 27, of Belleville, was convicted in July of killing Karinina "Nina" Polk. A guest found Polk's body early the morning of Feb. 3, 2008, on a second story balcony at the First Western Inn, 1941 Collinsville Road, in Fairmont City. Investigators determined she died after being struck in the head with a tire iron.

Kelly said in the press release that the case was reignited by investigators after hitting a dead end nearly two years ago.
