ST. LOUIS COUNTY • A Breckenridge Hills man ran down someone with his truck after an altercation at a bar earlier this month, authorities say.

Prosecutors charged Jordan J. Smith, 27, of the 3300 block of Sims Drive, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Charging documents say Smith and Andrew Carr were both at a bar on Feb. 6. They went outside, where Smith hit Carr with his hands, then got in a truck, hit Carr with the truck, and drove off, police say.

Carr died several days later at a hospital, charging documents say. No reason for the altercation was given in charging documents.

Smith's lawyer, Christopher Combs, said Smith acted in self-defense. Combs said Smith has been released on bond and is back at work.

"We plan on fighting the case," Combs said.

The bar's address, 9612 St. Charles Rock Road in Breckenridge Hills, matches "The Office" lounge. An employee who answered the phone declined to comment and declined to make anyone available for comment.

UPDATED March 13 with comments from Smith's lawyer.
