SAUGET — A 31-year-old Cahokia man died in a car accident early Saturday morning.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said his office pronounced the crash victim, Toshorn Napper, dead at 2:40 a.m.

The accident happened in the 300 block of Mississippi Avenue in Sauget.

“The car appeared to be stopped at the track. An SUV struck it in the rear,” Sauget police Chief James Jones told the Belleville News-Democrat.

The SUV’s female driver, whose name was not released by police, was taken to a St. Louis hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, the Belleville newspaper reported.

The crash is still under investigation.
