ST. CHARLES COUNTY • The family of a Lake Saint Louis man who was killed in an accident in Louisiana, Mo., in December has filed a wrongful death suit against a trucker involved in the accident.

Kyle David Brown, 40, was killed on Dec. 14 when his SUV hit logging equipment that toppled from a truck driven by Kenneth L. Davis, of Pleasant Hill, Ill., on the two-lane Champ Clark Bridge.

The suit, filed in St. Charles County Circuit Court on Tuesday by Brown's widow, Kristen Brown and the couple's two sons, says that Kyle Brown was driving east on the bridge while a tractor trailer driven by Davis hit the bridge, and a log dragger on the trailer fell off the truck.

Police said that chains securing the dragger snapped, and Brown drove into the dragger. The suit claims Davis failed to keep a proper lookout, was driving at excessive speed for the conditions, allowed his truck to cross into the oncoming lane, and he allowed the load to come off the trailer.

The Browns are seeking unspecified damages.
