Satanic vandalism at Baptist church near Alton

Authorities say vandals spray-painted Satanic messages on the Salem Baptist Church near Alton.

MADISON COUNTY • Investigators say they want to know who spray-painted satanic messages on a church near Alton last week.

About 12:45 p.m. Friday, Madison County sheriff's deputies were called to the Salem Baptist Church at 2001 Seiler Road after the phrases "Hail Satan (he's sexy)" and "666" were found spray-painted on a church facade.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies were called to the Woodland Hills subdivision near Alton where the words, "Hail Satan" were found spray-painted on brick pillars at the subdivision's entrance.

Anyone with information about the vandal or vandals is asked to call authorities at 618-296-3000.
