ST. LOUIS • Few details were available Friday after a Hazelwood man was found dead in his cell in the St. Louis Justice Center Thursday afternoon.

Jerrick Taylor, 33, of the 7000 block of Laupher Lane in Hazelwood, was found unresponsive in his downtown St. Louis jail cell around 2 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim was alone in the cell and there were no signs of foul play. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident as a "sudden death."

A trial was scheduled for Taylor in March for multiple charges of armed criminal action, as well as a first-degree robbery charge, shooting at or from a vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm.
