ST. LOUIS • St. Louis police identified a homeless man as the victim of a shooting Wednesday in the 4000 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue.
Erick L. Burton, 26, was found dead of gunshot wounds at about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities have not released further information about a motive. They say they have no suspect.
Burton's death was the 191st homicide this year in St. Louis, according to a department tally. There were 188 in all of 2016. There were 172 homicides on the same date last year.
'I think it was very brave for him to intervene,' Lt. Thomas Wilkison of St. Charles police said Saturday.
