Homeowner fatally shoots man in Pike County


The Pike County Sheriff Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Saturday evening on Pike 9203 in rural Annada, which is about 65 miles northwest of St. Louis.

Officials received a call at 7:42 p.m. of a report that a man had been shot at the residence, according to Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte.

Upon arrival, deputies found the body of Clinton D. Collins, 38, of Annada. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. The resident was identified as the shooter, Korte said.

Officials said their investigation so far indicates that the homeowner acted in self-defense. The events leading up to the shooting are being investigated. Additional witnesses are being sought and an autopsy is pending.
