EUREKA • Police are searching woods in the Eureka area for a man who ran from a traffic stop, leaving behind a van with about dozen people inside who spoke no English and lacked identification.

Federal officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are helping investigate.

The Missouri Highway Patrol made the traffic stop on Interstate 44 near Six Flags at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday for an unspecified traffic violation.

A spokesman for the patrol wasn't available for comment. But Eureka police say two men fled. One man, believed to be a passenger, was found and arrested. The man still on the loose is believed to be the driver. He ran north from the area of I-44 and Six Flags Road, police say.

Authorities asked anyone with information to call Eureka police at 636-938-6600.
