FERGUSON • Ferguson’s police chief has asked the Major Case Squad to investigate a homicide after a woman was found dead Saturday night in an apartment complex.

The woman was identified Monday as Sharae Bradford, 25, of the 1500 block of Northwinds Estates Drive in Ferguson.

Police refused to say how she died.

About 6 p.m. Saturday, police went to the 1500 block of Northwinds Estates after someone called to say a woman was unconscious and bleeding at the Versailles Apartments.

Ferguson spokesman Jeff Small said a family member went to check on Bradford after not being able to get in contact with her and discovered her “bleeding heavily” but responsive.

By the time paramedics arrived, she was not responsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene, which is just off West Florissant Avenue.

Small said Bradford lived in the apartment, but he did not know for how long, and that police had no motive or suspects in the case.

Small said investigators are following some leads.

Police released no additional details.

Ferguson’s interim police chief, Andre C. Anderson, asked the Major Case Squad to help Ferguson police with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477.

Christine Byers of the Post-Dispatch contributed to this report.
