Man, 22, dies in rural St. Charles County crash

ST. CHARLES COUNTY — A 22-year-old man died in a crash here early Saturday after losing control of a pickup truck.

Benjamin M. Engemann, of Marthasville, was driving southbound on Highway T near Borgmann Road around 2:20 a.m. when he crashed in a 2006 Ford F-250, according to a preliminary report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The truck went off the right side of the road, skidded, then traveled across the other side of the road before slamming into the ditch. The truck overturned and hit a utility pole.

Engemann was pronounced dead at the scene in rural St. Charles County, about 10 miles north of Washington, Missouri. Officials said he was wearing a seatbelt.

Family said Engemann was a carpenter, avid outdoorsman and a 2018 graduate of Washington High School.
