UPDATED at 9:50 a.m. Thursday with name of victim, details about other shooting on Interstate 70 on Monday
ST. LOUIS • A man who arrived at a hospital around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday with a gunshot wound to the head has died, police said Thursday.
They identified him as Malik Wysinger, 18, of the 1400 block of Rutger Street.
The location where the shooting took place initially was unclear — police said they were told it was somewhere along Interstate 70. On Thursday, they said the man and others in his vehicle, two men ages 20 and 22, were westbound on the interstate approaching Carrie Avenue when shots were fired at them from a dark-colored SUV.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The other people in the vehicle with Wysinger were not hurt, police said.
It was the second shooting on Interstate 70 this week. A man, 34, was shot in the hip as he drove east on Interstate 70 about 1:45 a.m. Monday, police said. He told police that he saw shots being fired from a white Kia Stinger at a dark-colored Chevy Camaro near Grand Avenue, and that as the vehicles passed him, he felt pain in his hip and exited onto Salisbury Street.
