ST. LOUIS COUNTY • A man has been charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse after police say he groped a woman on the stairs of the University City-Big Bend MetroLink station.
Dagvachuluun Ganzorig, 41, of the 4000 block of Botanical Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Friday for the incident on Dec. 3, 2015. Second-degree sexual abuse is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
His bail was set at $5,000.
According to Officer Christopher Hildebrand with the St. Louis County Police Department, Ganzorig grabbed the victim through her clothes as she climbed the stairs at the MetroLink station at 7000 Forest Park Parkway.
Surveillance video captured what happened, police say.
Police say the victim identified Ganzorig as the man who grabbed her. When police questioned him, Ganzorig admitted touching and grabbing the victim and said "what (he) did was wrong," police say.
Hildebrand told the court in a probable cause statement last week that he thinks Ganzorig poses a danger to the community because of the nature of the offense and the fact that he made sexual contact with a complete stranger in public.
Prosecutors have asked the judge not to lower the bail.
