ST. LOUIS COUNTY • A motorist was killed Thursday morning when his car was hit at an intersection near Overland as he attempted to make a left turn, police say.

The man's name, age and hometown haven't been released.

The crash, about 5:50 a.m. Thursday, was at Page Avenue and North Warson Road. The man was trapped in his overturned vehicle, and rescuers worked near downed power lines to get to him out.

St. Louis County Police Officer Benjamin Granda said the man who died was driving a Chevrolet Cruze. He was alone in the car.

He apparently was trying to make a left turn onto southbound North Warson Road when his Cruze was struck in the middle of the intersection by a Chevrolet Camaro heading east on Page.

The force of the crash pushed the Cruze off the road and caused it to roll over, Granda said. The driver of the Cruze died at the scene.

The area is in unincorporated St. Louis County, west of Overland.

The driver of the Camaro, also an adult male, remained at the scene. He had no passengers in his car. No additional details were released about him, including the extent of any injuries he suffered.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and accident-reconstruction team are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 636-529-8210. Tipsters who want to remain anonymous should contact CrimeStoppers online or at 1-866-371-8477.
