KIRKWOOD — One man died and others were sent to the hospital early Sunday morning following a wrong-way crash in west St. Louis County.
Timothy V. Primo, 34, of Fenton, died from the incident, which happened around 1:40 a.m. on Interstate 270 at Dougherty Ferry Road, officials said.
Primo was a passenger in a 2011 Toyota Sienna van hit head-on by a 2016 Kia Forte that Madonna Endres, 22, was driving the wrong direction, according to a preliminary report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A third vehicle, a 2009 Nissan Murano, then struck the side of the Toyota van after initial impact.
The report gives two towns for Endres: Maplewood and Bourbonnais, Illinois, which is near Chicago.
Endres and the 71-year-old driver of the Toyota van were taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. A 14-year-old girl in the Nissan was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Primo was the owner of Pristine Power Clean LLC, according to his Facebook page, which features him in pictures with three young children. He went to Rockwood Summit High School and studied at St. Charles Community College.
In a Nov. 20 online post, Primo wrote that waking up at 1 a.m to be at work by 2 a.m. "is not for the faint of heart."
"I’m just lucky and very blessed to have a great job," he said. "No complaints here."
A GoFundMe page has been established for donations that will cover funeral expenses.
