ST. LOUIS • A man struck and killed by an SUV last week was standing in the passing lane of Interstate 44 and photographing two of his friends in the median when he was hit, police said.

Police identified the man killed as Will Miner, 24, of the 5500 block of Shaw Boulevard in St. Louis.

Police said Miner was with two friends about 3:50 a.m. on Feb. 2 when he stepped into the left lane of eastbound I-44 near the Macklind Avenue overpass to take a picture of his friends. Police said Miner's two friends were sitting on the center median when Miner was hit by a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 39-year-old man. Miner was then hit by other vehicles.

Miner was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with police.

Police did not identify the driver or either of Miner's friends.
