Man killed wife, 3-year-old son before killing self, St. Louis police say

ST. LOUIS • A man with a history of domestic violence fatally shot his wife and their 3-year-old son before killing himself in their St. Louis home, police said.

Police say Oscar Guerra, 35, shot his wife, Carla Guerra, 28, and son Marcio Guerra multiple times before fatally shooting himself.

The Guerras were discovered by their landlord inside a home in the 3400 block of Tennessee Avenue about 10:44 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the man had been charged in May, accused of hitting his wife with a tire iron, and was wanted in that attack. The couple and their son had just moved into the home on Tennessee three days ago.

The man worked for the landlord cutting lawns. When the man didn’t show up for work Saturday, the landlord went to the home and found the bodies, police said.

Cindy McCoy, 46, who has lived in the neighborhood for four years, said she had only spoken to the couple briefly since they moved in.

She said she couldn’t believe the child was killed.

“How could you take the life of innocence?” she said. “Don’t kill each other, but for sure don’t kill babies.”
