A Wood River man died Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a U.S. Postal Service delivery truck on the edge of Highland.

Killed in the crash was Gaylon D. Parker, 69, according to the Madison County Coroner's Office. His wife, Donna C. Parker, 69, and the driver of the mail truck, Sandy L. Vosholler, 48, of Highland, were injured and taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.

Gaylon Parker was headed west on St. Rose Road on a 1982 Honda Goldwing Aspencade motorcycle when he collided with the mail truck, which was southbound on Iberg Road, according to authorities.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from head trauma at 3:22 p.m. He was not wearing a helmet, the coroner said.
