WASHINGTON PARK • Amber M. Salts, 29, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Friday to 30 months in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender when she moved almost a year ago from Rolla, Mo., to an Illinois home in Washington Park. She also will be on 10 years of supervised probation and must pay a $250 fine and $100 special assessment.
Salts had been convicted in Madison County in 2009 of permitting the sexual abuse of a child, and was ordered to register as a sex offender. She was charged in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis with violation of the Sex Offender Notification and Registration Act as part of nationwide attack on child sex crimes, prosecutors said.
in the Madison County case, Salts was convicted of selling a 12-year-old girl she was babysitting to a 48-year-old man in Granite City for sex in 2007. She had been romantically involved with the man and knew what he was doing with the child, police said at the time.
