ST. LOUIS • A pedestrian was killed Tuesday night when she was hit by a vehicle in north St. Louis.

Shanice Jackson, 45, of Castle Point, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was hit by a vehicle just after 11 p.m. near North Broadway and Calvary Avenue, police said.

Police say Jackson was walking west across the middle of North Broadway when she was hit. The driver stayed on scene to talk with police.

The scene is just north of Bellefontaine Cemetery.

The pedestrian killed Tuesday night is the second person fatally struck by a car in St. Louis in two days and the third in the St. Louis area in the last two weeks.

A man was fatally struck about 7:26 p.m. Monday night near Cote Brilliante Avenue and Union Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle that struck the man told police that he had a green light at the intersection when he was traveling south on Union Boulevard when the pedestrian walked into the road.

A woman was fatally struck about 5:10 a.m. March 8 when she tried to cross Interstate 270 near New Halls Ferry Road in St. Louis County.
