ST. LOUIS • Police have released images of a car stolen from the scene of a homicide in the hope it leads them to the killer.

Daikel Fletcher, 22, of Northwoods, was shot just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 3200 block of Dodier Street, police said. Residents heard the gunshots and called police.

Officers found Fletcher unconscious in the back yard of a residence. He had been shot multiple times and died at the scene. Fletcher lived in the 3800 block of Oakridge Boulevard in Northwoods.

On Tuesday, authorities released images of Fletcher's car, which was taken from the scene. They also released the car's temporary license plate, though they said it may have been removed from the car by now. It is 01RQN4.

Fletcher's death was the first homicide of the year in St. Louis, police say.
