WASHINGTON COUNTY • A Potosi man walked free today after a Washington County jury acquitted him of a first-degree murder charge.

Jimmie Perko, 50, was charged in January 2010 with the fatal shooting of Eugene Hillemann, 48, of Potosi, in a home in the Indian Creek subdivision. He also faced charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon and was held on $1 million bail.

After a four-day trial, a jury midday Thursday acquitted Perko of all the charges, allowing for his immediate release.
