FERGUSON • A Northwoods man was charged with murder Monday in the May 17 fatal shooting of a man who intervened in a dispute in Ferguson, court documents say.

Maurkeith C. Patton, 17, of the 4700 block of Roxie Street, was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. On June 5, Alastair Green, 18, of Florissant, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in the shooting at the Canfield Green apartment complex.

The shooting left Decarlos Jones, 23, dead. He lived nearby in the 9400 block of Stonefield Road.

Court records say Patton, Green and another man arrived in the 2100 block of Canfield Drive and that Patton pointed a gun at more than one other person. Court documents say Green also pointed a gun at someone who isn't named.

Jones stepped in and wrestled with Green, the documents say. The fight broke up, but then Green pointed the gun at Jones, shouted "He's dead" and fired several shots. Jones died of gunshot wounds. Charges say Green and Patton were identified as those pointing guns at victims.

Green lives in the 800 block of Pershall Road. He and Patton were being held in the St. Louis County Jail.

A booking photo of Patton was not immediately available Tuesday.
