JENNINGS • A second teenager has died after suffering injuries in a Friday night car crash that hurt four others.

St. Louis County Police identified the teen as Michael Leachman, 15, of the 2100 block of Fairhaven Drive in Jennings.

Also Sunday, police identified the teen who died immediately after the crash Friday as Theodore Barnett III, 16, of the 200 block of Elmdale Drive in Ferguson.

At 8:30 p.m. Friday, a single car struck a tree in the 2500 block of Shannon Avenue. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene and the five other occupants, including Leachman, were taken taken to the hospital, some with critical injuries.

Police said the driver, a 16-year-old girl, did not have a license. The cause of the crash appeared to be careless driving at excessive speeds. The driver will be referred to St. Louis County Family Courts, police said Sunday.

Only one occupant, the female sitting in the front passenger seat, appeared to have been wearing a seat belt. She had minor injuries.
