FERGUSON  •  Six suspects were taken into custody on Tuesday evening for an alleged attempted burglary of a burned-out beauty store.

Ferguson police Sgt. Harry Dilworth said at about 6 p.m. police received a report of a burglary in progress at the Beauty Town near West Florissant and Ferguson Avenues. Police said the suspects on Tuesday were in the basement of the Beauty Town where some hair supplies were still stored.

While officers responded and made the arrests, Dilworth said gunfire was heard coming from the nearby Park Ridge Apartments, which overlooks the back of the salon's building.

"It was a volley of rounds," Dilworth said.

No one was injured.

Beauty Town has been looted at several points during the Ferguson unrest. In November it was burned after a St. Louis County grand jury declined to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.
