CLAYTON — Dawan Ferguson, accused of killing his disabled 9-year-old son in 2003, is now charged with sexually abusing two children over several years.
Ferguson, 46, was charged Thursday with two counts of statutory rape, two counts of statutory sodomy and child molestation. Charges say he sexually abused the children at different times between 2000 and 2013.
Charges say one of the victims became pregnant and had a child as a result of the abuse.
“We are saddened by these additional charges on Mr. Ferguson,” according to a news release from the office of St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and we will continue to aggressively seek justice for them. Our attorneys and investigators, along with the St. Louis County Police Department, will remain diligent in their investigation of these vile offenses and will proceed wherever additional findings take them.”
Ferguson is being held without bail in the presumed death of his son Christian Ferguson. The boy vanished in 2003 and has never been found.
Last month, Ferguson’s wife of 18 years filed for divorce, alleging that he abused two of her relatives for years and that he fathered a child by one of them. She also got a protection order against him.
Just after 6 a.m. on June 11, 2003, Dawan Ferguson called 911 from a pay phone at Page and Skinker boulevards. The father told police he had stopped to make a call and a carjacker drove off with his maroon 1999 Ford Expedition with Christian inside. Police found the SUV hours later in Ferguson — but no Christian.
Christian could not process protein because of a rare disorder, authorities say. He couldn’t walk or talk and would have died within 48 hours without proper medication.
