ST. LOUIS • A police officer has resigned after a woman accused him of having inappropriate sexual contact with her while responding to a domestic disturbance at her home, according to a police source.
The source said the department is investigating whether the alleged sexual contact at the woman’s south St. Louis home was consensual.
A police department spokeswoman issued a news release late Tuesday saying only that the department has started a criminal and internal investigation into a complaint received Saturday regarding an officer’s alleged conduct during a response to a nonemergency call on Friday.
The release stated that once the investigation is concluded, the findings will be presented to the circuit attorney’s office.
“When these allegations were brought to the department’s attention, immediate action was taken and internal and criminal investigations were initiated,” the release stated.
“The department takes allegations of misconduct very seriously and is committed to rooting out those who do not uphold our core values of service, integrity, leadership and fair treatment to all.”
