BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS • A suspect in a fatal shooting last week turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon.

Tradell Devon Buckner, 20, of Berkeley is one of two St. Louis-area men police named as "persons of interest" last week in the homicide investigation of Ian R. Smith, 45, of Bellefontaine.

Smith was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the back yard of a house on Shepley Drive near Riverview Gardens High School sometime after 10 a.m. August 3.

Buckner turned himself in to Bellefontaine Neighbors police around 1:30 p.m., said Lt. Shawn Applegate, a detective with the department. He said Buckner is being held at the St. Louis County Jail.

Police are searching for the other suspect in the case, Jaymone Kaithon Lewis, 18, of Florissant. Police believe Lewis is armed and dangerous, Applegate said.

Officials ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of Lewis, or information about the circumstances of Smith's death, to contact the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department at 314-867-0080 or St. Louis Regional Crime Stoppers at 866-371-8477.
