ST. LOUIS COUNTY • Two teenagers were charged Monday with murdering a man in a drug deal Saturday night in north St. Louis County.
St. Louis County prosecutors charged Aaron Walters and William Westbrook, both 18, with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts each of armed criminal action.
They are accused in the shooting death of Derion Hamilton, 26, on Saturday night. Hamilton was found dead in the front passenger seat of a vehicle near the intersection of Shepley and Hobkirk drives, in the Glasgow Village area of north St. Louis County.
St. Louis County police handled the homicide investigation. Police said in court papers that Walters admitted setting up a deal to buy marijuana within the vehicle.
Walters unlocked the back passenger door, allowing Westbrook to get into the car. Westbrook allegedly then shot and killed Hamilton, police say. After the killing, the marijuana was taken from the vehicle.
Hamilton lived in the 10400 block of Gardo Court, a few blocks from where he died.
The suspects also live nearby — Walters in the 10400 block of Durness Drive and Westbrook in the 200 block of Estridge Road.
Each is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
