UPDATES with police saying victim was targeted

DELLWOOD • A teenager was shot and killed inside a Dellwood home on Sunday night and a silver sedan was seen speeding away from the scene, police said.

The North County Police Cooperative called in the Major Case Squad to investigate the shooting, which happened at 9:52 p.m. in the 1700 block of Cargill Drive. 

Capt. Jon Romas, spokesman for the squad, said they believe the victim was targeted. The killer walked to the door of the home and fired on the 15-year-old when he opened the door.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound while no other people in the house were hurt, police said. The teenager was taken to a hospital where he died.Witness told police that a silver sedan was seen speeding away from the scene of the shooting, but police have not identified a person of interest.

Police are asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477). Witnesses can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
