TROY, Mo. • Students at Main Street Elementary organized their first-ever fundraising walk Friday to support their classmate with cystic fibrosis.

The service project raised nearly $2,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

First-grader Lewis Watson was born with the genetic disorder that causes chronic lung infections and breathing problems.

His classmates in Stephanie Harris' class and their third grade buddies in Kristine Molitor's class sold T-shirts and made posters describing the effects of the illness as part of their project.
