Illinois judge strikes Charlie's Angels pose in billboard ad

St. Clair County Associate Judge Laninya Cason has parted from the normally staid judicial advertisements by striking a Charlie's Angels-style pose...on a billboard.

Cason, a Republican who is running for Circuit Judge in Illinois' 20th Judicial Circuit, has made waves since leaving the Democratic Party after it backed another candidate for the party's circuit judge nomination. The vacancy was created when Circuit Judge Milton Wharton announced his retirement after decades on the bench.

Cason's billboard, shown above on a stretch of westbound Route 13 near East St. Louis, features the candidate wearing her judicial robe. Her hands are folded with her fingers pointed up toward her chin.

Charlie's Angels was a hit television show on ABC in the late 1970s. It featured three attractive women who worked at a private investigation agency.

The circuit's judicial seats have long been dominated by Democrats.

Cason, 41, has been an associate judge for nine years.  She made headlines earlier this week after alleging Bill Enyart, the Democratic candidate running for U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello's congressional seat, pushed her during a parade.  Enyart said he accidentally bumped into her. Nonetheless, Cason held a press conference in front of the O'Fallon, Ill., police station and called for a full investigation.
