Greitens' onetime vows of transparency now lost behind a veil of dark money
The candidate who once promised to shine a light on Jefferson City corruption has become financially opaque in office.
In some cases, he and his staff have let questions about major issues facing the state go unanswered, leaving residents in the dark about his positions on a variety of topics.
Some efforts are fresh and bold. Others were already in the works for years, undercut by other actions, or haven't yet come to fruition.
If Missourians think that Gov. Eric Greitens' avoidance of accountability is an admirable leadership quality, they should think again. The news media can and will find a way around the governor’s evasive tactics, as demonstrated in a Post-Dispatch series starting Sunday shining light on the many sordid ways the governor hides his activities from public view.
