Illinois state troopers have been asked to investigate an incident in which a woman was hit and killed Wednesday night by a car driven by an off-duty East St. Louis police officer. The victim was identified as Christine Stiff, 42, of East St. Louis, who was struck about 9 p.m. while apparently crossing the street at 15th Street and Piggot Avenue. Police Chief Lenzie Stewart would not release the name of the officer involved.
