Fund raising for November's St. Louis County executive race has nudged past $3 million, campaign finance reports filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission show.
In the three months that ended June 30, Bill Corrigan, a Republican seeking the position, outraised St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley who is seeking reelection. But Dooley has collected $2,071,592 thus far to Corrigan's $1,077,776.
Corrigan raised $340,242 and spent $70,991 in the reporting period. At the same time, Dooley raised $210,585 and spent $170, 638.
Dooley overall has spent considerably more money than his challenger, leaving a gap of about $300,000 in the amount they have available to spend -- $1,108,870 for Dooley versus $792,025 for Corrigan.
The county executive reporting spending $849,835 thus far and Corrigan, $249,185.

Voters on Aug. 3 must nominate the two as their party's candidates before they officially can go head to head in the Nov. 2 election. Neither has well-known opposition in their primaries.
The Corrigan campaign stressed that outraising Dooley in the last three months was a major milestone. "We are sending a very strong and powerful message to the Dooley administration with these fundraising numbers," Corrigan said in a statement.
"This is the most important quarter in a political campaign, as political observers and donors often judge the strength of a campaign by the financial results of this quarter," the statement said.
In its statement the Dooley campaign said it posted "another strong quarter of fundraising." It declared that "Dooley supporters are energized."
