Not to be outdone by New York's Central Park, where a rare Mandarin duck has been paddling across ponds and captivating visitors for weeks, our own Forest Park also has a regal feathered resident these days.
Forest Park Forever said this week that a bald eagle is wintering (or autumning?) at the park's Jefferson Lake. The nonprofit tweeted about the bird of prey's visit on Monday.
The lake favored by the majestic guest is on the east end of the 1,300-acre park. It apparently is a good source of the eagle's fare of choice: trout.
