ST. LOUIS COUNTY • The Missouri Department of Transportation will close two lanes in both directions of Highway 141 near Interstate 44 in Valley Park over the weekend of May 31 through June 3.

The lanes will close while crews do preventative maintenance and repairs on a bridge over the Meramec River, the department announced Thursday.

Two lanes of northbound Highway 141 at the river will close starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31. One southbound lane will close at the same time, and a second lane will close at 9 p.m. that night. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3.

The turn from northbound Highway 141 to Forest Avenue will also close. Traffic on Forest will still be able to turn onto northbound 141 and drivers can use the U-turn lane to get onto southbound 141.

Traffic will still be moving over the bridge, but drivers should expect slow downs, and should consider using Interstate 270 as an alternative route, according to MoDOT.

Drivers will still be able to access Interstate 44 from 141, but another bridge construction project that same weekend will be causing more traffic issues. All lanes of eastbound Interstate 44 will be closed just east of I-270 in Sunset Hills to remove an overpass bridge.
