ST. LOUIS COUNTY • St. Louis County police shot and killed a man who wounded an officer who responded to a disturbance in the 10000 block of Cavalier Court in north St. Louis County.
The man was identified as Frederick Washington, 38, County Police Sgt. James McWilliams said. He lived in that block of Cavalier Court.
Police did not make public the name of the wounded officer. He was struck in the left hand. He was treated at an area hospital and released, McWilliams said.
Police were called to the scene about 2 p.m. Saturday. McWilliams said Washington got inside a car and pulled a gun on police. Two officers struggled with Washington, who fired multiple shots, one of which struck the officer. Police returned fire, striking Washington, McWilliams said.
