Search continues for missing Ste. Genevieve County woman

STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY • Authorities continue to look for a Ste. Genevieve County woman who went missing July 8, and a press conference is set for Thursday at 10 a.m. to give updates on the search.

Lynn Marie Messer, 52, walked away from her home on her 270-acre farm in the 6300 block of Route DD. Her husband, Kerry, woke up at about 4 a.m. and noticed she wasn't there. He told police he searched his home and property and wasn't able to find her, and called police at about 8 a.m.

Several professional search parties combed the farm and the area over the next two days, and on Tuesday, the St. Genevieve County Sheriff's Office conducted a checkpoint near the farm to ask motorists what they may have seen the week before. They're following up on several observations, they said.

Messer has a broken right toe and does not have her walking boot with her, police have said. Her purse, cellphone and other personal items were left at the home. She has a history of depression.

Messer is white, 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 160 pounds, with long, graying hair, green eyes and a fair complexion.

Information about the volunteer search efforts is being organized through a Facebook account called “Find Lynn Messer.”

The sheriff's office has set up a tip line at 573-883-5820 extension 27463.
