LAKE SAINT LOUIS   •   A 34-year-old teacher was given five years probation Monday on a child molestation charge involving a 10-year-old boy he was home schooling.
The St. Charles County prosecutor's office said the man, Joseph Thomas Maddock, of the first block of Cedar Bluff Drive in Lake Saint Louis, also was sentenced to 15 years suspended execution of sentence by Circuit Judge Nancy Schneider.
A charge of statutory sodomy was reduced to child molestation during plea negotiations, said assistant prosecutor Jillian Anderson.
According to police, Maddock met the boy in 2012 while teaching third grade at Andrews Academy, a private school in Lake Saint Louis. Â The boy was in the fifth grade at the time. Â

Anderson said Maddock surrendered his teaching license as part of the plea deal.
Joseph Thomas Maddock, of Fenton, was sent to prison for violating his probation after he had pleaded guilty of child molestation.
