One Florida man wound up with a much different finish than he expected after police said he was caught on camera stealing prescription pills — or so he thought.

Peter Hans Emery, 56, faces a felony charge of petit theft after he was recorded on a surveillance video taking a pill bottle from a victim's lock box at a Pinellas Park home, police said. According to a police report, the label on the bottle showed it contained hydrocodone, but actually had generic laxative pills inside, The Smoking Gun reported.

Police report records note Emery and the victim share the same address, but any relation between the two is not known.

Emery took two of the laxative pills before realizing they weren't powerful prescription drugs and throwing away the rest of the pills.

Emery, who has more than two prior theft convictions, was booked into Pinellas County Jail on four charges on Thursday and was still behind bars Tuesday afternoon.
